Diving  Sites

       


      

1. The Rays: Depth: 20 metres. Submerged on a sandy seabed, above the remains of a shipwreck (the REGASY III) Garden eels, black and white sting rays, eagle rays, butterfly rays, one or two loggerhead turtles and a considerable amount of other species too.Depth suitable for all levels.

2. Port Ray City: Depth: 22 metres. Submerged on a sandy seabed, above two shipwrecks (a sailing ship and a yacht), where the rays have established their own city. Sting rays, bishop rays, butterfly rays, eagle rays, manta rays. But also greater amberjack, grey tiggerfish and other species Depth suitable for all levels.


3. The Coral Arches: Depth: 25 to 40 metres. Slope of a 25 to 60 metre gully, its walls covered in black coral. Halfway down, a huge arch covered in black coral where a grouper fish has made its home. At the base, an enormous rock where we can find, like gate-keepers, barracuda, soldier fish, a porcupine fish, moray eels, kingfish, a shoal of grunts, rays, white mackerel and many other species. Depth suitable for experienced divers.


  

4. The Cave of The Brains: Depth: 10 to 15 metres. A grotto formed by lava which has created a huge volcanic tube with two exits towards the surface. In the grotto we can see a death's head formation made up of white sponges. Soldier fish, small crustaceans a huge black sting ray and anemones of every colour. Depth suitable for all levels.

5. White Point: Depth: 20 to 30 metres. The rocky sea-bed, which makes a depression 12 to 30 metres deep, ends in a sandy platform with occasional rocks, and three rocks which go down from 18 to 30 metres, where small grottoes can be seen along with crevices and cornices. There are large groups of African striped grunts, grunts and as we descend, salemas, gold-lined bream, mackerel, white bream and red mullet. On the sandy sea-bed large numbers of red and yellow parr. Depth suitable for experienced divers.

     


6. Moray Cave: Depth: from 20 to 30 metres. A  platform of rocks 20 metres down, shaped like a depression down to 30 metres, where we can find grottoes and crevices. The light sandy sea-bed slopes slowly down as we move away from the coastline. Between the grottoes and crevices shelter a great number of black moray eels, leopard fish, trumpet fish, lobster, white mackerel and, from time to time, large sting rays. Depth suitable for all levels.

7. Catalufa Rock: Depth: from 25 to 33 meters. The sea-bed has a volcanic formation in the shape of vertical depressions, one of which forms a narrow passageway which we can go into and come out onto a small sandy clearing surrounded by rocks. There is a great shoal of grunts which always stays within the walls of the grotto. In the rocks we can also find moray eels, and in the darker parts a shoal of ox-eye, giant anemones, red mullet, bandtail chromis, etc... Depth suitable for all levels.

8. Fabi�n Rock: Depth: from 25 to 40 meters. On a bank of volcanic rock 25 metres down, to the south of the bank a rock goes down to 50 metres. On the south side the rock is covered in black coral. 30 metres away is a small grotto. On all sides of the rock there is a huge shoal of barracuda which may be approached very slowly. Large sting rays, along with tuna fish, bonito, angel sharks and, sometimes, a blue skinned shark are all to be found in the area. Magnificent place with a depth suitable for experienced divers.


9. Pecio: Appointment at Sea: Depth: from 25 to 50 metres. In May 1995, a fishing trawler returning from Morocco at night with a haul of tuna fish collided with the south end of the Punta Rasca lighthouse. It sank immediately and rests 25 metres down. With the storms of January 1997 it slipped down into the sand. The bow 52 metres down and the stern 39. There we can find different types of marine life including white bream, angel sharks, king-fish, tuna and, sometimes, a blue shark. Depth suitable for experienced divers.

10. Yellow Mountain: Depth: from 15 to 25 metres. The bottom is rocky, with walls, grottoes and crevices. On a seabed covered in white sand we can find cuttlefish, lizard fish, spider fish, plaice, rays, garden eels, moray eels, barracudas, crabs, trumpet fish, parrot fish, bandtail chromis and also some shoals of grunt.  Depth suitable for all levels.

11. Tutu Point: Depth: 17 to 50 metres. On a sand bank 30 metres down, a rock reaches up to 17 metres down on the north side. On the south side an overhang covered in black coral goes down to 50 metres. At its base there is a huge grotto inhabited by a porcupine fish, soldier fish, sea-scorpions and anemones. Above, several barracudas, but also, eagle rays, bonitos, king fish and many other species. Depth suitable for experienced divers.
